"The Lord, over the centuries, has had a hand in inspiring people to invent tools that facilitate the spreading of the gospel."
We have obviously seen how big of a difference advances in technology can make in our world today. Especially over the past couple of years, we have witnessed the development and advancing of various social media networks. They are mainly used to keep in contact with friends, but a lot of the time they act as a time-killer. But, we can transform our use of social media into our own way of sharing what we believe.
An experience I've had with this was a couple of years ago when my dad gave me a book of quotes for Christmas. Starting January 1st, I posted one of those quotes every day on Facebook. As the year progressed, people I hadn't talked to for years would send me messages saying how a specific quote would touch them. I ended up sharing quotes every day for two years.
This made me realize that even taking two minutes to post a small message can really make a difference to someone. If two minutes turned into ten minutes by writing on our blogs, imagine how the little things we share can make a difference in the lives of others.
"You do not speak for the Church as a whole. You speak as one member-but you testify of the truths you have come to know."
When we were flying home from Mexico, McKenzie and I were seated next to a man who asked us about the "mission" that the members of our church serve. We led a great discussion that lasted the majority of the flight, but there were many times where we were caught of guard and we couldn't answer one of his questions with written doctrine or examples of the scriptures. It was at these points in the conversation where we would simply share what we know to be true because of the testimonies that we have developed. It's so important to share what you've come to believe because of your faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.
Love your thoughts. I agree. Way to go being a missionary on the plane. You will find places to testify of Christ all the time if you are open to the spirit
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely CC! Any little thing can make someones day. Relating abit, on Deviant Art another Mormon artist I have come to know on the website randomly posted on my profile saying that I was a great friend and an amazing artist, it was amazing an couldn't help but smile for the rest of the day, little quotes or blog posts can change someones life.
ReplyDeleteWow. You have truly inspired me. I love how you are always open to the spirit and have the courage to talk to people. And If you do go on a mission one day you will be a really good missionary!
ReplyDeleteSorry, this comment was late... It's so cool how the Lord has helped invent so many different things that will all contribute to the progression of the gospel.
ReplyDeleteI love how you brought your personal life into it and shared that amazing story about your quotes! Its something really cool! I think you should also do that with your blog today.
